5 Minutes with Bnbhost Director, Gill, on Interior Trends in 2019 

We caught up with Bnbhost Director and Founder, Gill Hannay, to chat about all things interiors for 2019…

What are your favourite interior trends for 2019?

“There are so many great trends just now that are easy to implement for every room! I love a contemporary yet quirky feel. It can be very versatile and allows you to frequently mix things up with changes in accessories and soft furnishings. For the short-term rental market, a contemporary style also suits a lot of tastes, which you will of course get with each person that walks through your door! It’s nice to add a little character with accessories to make a room feel homely. I’m also loving soft pastel colours like aqua blue and pale yellow, and see lots of these appearing in Spring 2019.”

Do you have any interior tips for quickly updating a room?

“I like to use lots of plants and greenery to inject some energy and freshen up a room. Using artwork and pictures is another great way to update a room and bring it all together.”

How can a host make their space more inviting for guests?

“Having a clean, tidy space is of course a must. Extras like books, games and a cosy throw are good ways to welcome a guest whilst giving them a little flavour of your home. In the bedroom, we always encourage good quality bedding and cushions to keep guests comfy. Additionally, coasters and nice wine glasses don’t go a miss!”

What is your own favourite interior style?

“Personally, I like deep moody colours with metallic accents of gold, bronze or silver scattered throughout. This style works best when you have lots of natural light coming into a room.”

What do you think makes a house a home?

“Lighting is very important and shouldn’t be overlooked. It’s essential that each room has appropriate lighting. A well lit (naturally if possible) kitchen and bathroom will help to keep these rooms feeling fresh and clean, whilst lower, cosier lighting may be more appropriate for the bedroom. Always consider the lighting when styling and decorating the room.”
