Festive Fun in Glasgow: The top spots and attractions to share with your guests

Glasgow was just named the UK’s top cultural and creative city, ranking above London, Bristol, Brighton and Manchester! Not only is it a fantastic city to visit all year round (if we do say so ourselves), it’s especially magical at Christmas time. There are endless amounts of festive fun to be had in our city, for all types of travellers. Whether it’s couples, families, or solo travellers you’re hosting, here are our top attractions to share with them during their stay in Glasgow this festive season.

Glasgow’s traditional Christmas Markets

Although there are Christmas Markets all over European cities at this time of year, there is something special about Glasgow’s. This year, the markets make a return to St Enoch Square and George Square. Guests can try out delicious cuisines from a range of countries, and enjoy warming festive drinks at the indoor bar. With lots of festive gifts on show, your guests won’t struggle to find gifts for loved ones at home!

Santa Dash

What’s red and white and runs through Glasgow city centre? The annual Glasgow Santa Dash of course! Taking place on Sunday 8th December, the dash turns Glasgow into a sea of jolly red runners on a 5k around the city for charity. It’s a spectacle to see and definitely a unique sight to share with your guests!

Style Mile Carnival

On Sunday 24th November, Glasgow becomes a vibrant spectacle of music and dance with the annual Style Mile Carnival. A magical procession begins at 2.30pm at George Square, before it makes its way down the famous ‘Style Mile’ of Buchanan Street. The 2019 parade theme is ‘A Festive Fayre’ and is not to be missed!

Elfingrove by itison

If your guests are looking for an attraction like no other, we recommend Elfingrove! For the first time ever, the iconic Kelvingrove Museum will be transformed into a winter wonderland from 5th December to 5th January. It’s a super popular event, having been sold out already and new dates added! The experience takes guests through a festive journey with amazing visuals, warming street food and tasty drinks, a silent disco, as well as incredible festive surprises.

Sloans Eatfilm Christmas

Sloans, popularly known as Glasgow’s oldest bar and restaurant, is worthwhile a visit at any point in the year for guests. All year round, the bar runs their unique ‘Eatfilm’, movie screening and meal in their upstairs ballroom. During the festive season, Christmas classics are shown including favourites such as It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf and Love Actually, all enjoyed with a selection of delicious Sloans food options.
